TowBoatUS Launches New Boat for Mission Bay
It’s been two years in the making but “Vessel Assist La Jolla” is up and running ready to serve in Mission Bay. The all aluminum 24′ MonArk is nicknamed “THE TANK” but don’t let the nickname fool you. Powered with a 240 HP Cummins diesel and a Bravo X drive the “La Jolla” will top 35 knots. With the huge stainless steel propeller she has the torque and maneuverability to perform any task that she is called for. Holding 150 gallons of fuel with an average burn of 2.5 gallons per hour the “La Jolla” will be able to assist vessels all weekend long without having to refuel.
The “La Jolla” is equipped with:
– two 8000 Gallon per hour dewatering pumps per wired for immediate use.
– one 3700 gallon per hour de watering pump for smaller jobs.
– 600′ of 1/2 spectra tow rope with a working strength of 30,000 lbs.
– 30′ jumper cables
– fuel for fuel deliveries
– dive gear
– 100′ oil absorbent sweep
– 100 oil absorbent pads
Electronics include:
– two Standard VHF radios
– Furuno GP37 GPS
– Raymarine C80 chartplotter, GPS, depth sounder, and radar.
This boat is built specifically for Mission Bay. It has the torque to pull just about any boat in the bay off the beach if they become grounded. It is fast to get out to the mariners off Lajolla. Can easily tow boats to San Diego or Oceanside and had the Power and maneuverability to put the biggest boats away in their slip.
